Kindness is Never Wasted by Linda M. Crate

I love how there's never an act of kindness too small. I think my favourite acts of kindness are the surprises I've received: a care package, a card, flowers, an extra dollar spared by someone, so that I could pay for my bus fare home.

One of my love languages is gift giving. I love doting on the people that I love but I don't always receive it in return. I am not asking for all their money or their time, I just want to know that I am thought of and appreciated. I have given a lot of time and compassion to people who couldn't or wouldn't give me that same energy in return.

And I think while love is never wasted, it is hard to remember to be kind when you feel as if no one appreciates the little things that you do for them. Yet I feel when you are at your lowest, it is important to remember kindness even if it is just to say something self-affirming or buying a coffee for someone or whatever you need to do to make yourself feel better.

Kindness isn't only for us to give to others. I think that's something that people sometimes forget. Kindness is also something that we need to give ourselves.

It's a universal language that can cross language barriers or any other barrier. In a world that is sometimes destructive and cruel, I find that it is amazing and beautiful that people still take the time to be kind to others. It is those acts that I believe make the world a better place, and so I will always try to pass on the kindness to others even if it's not always reciprocated. Peace is its own reward.
